New Jars of Clay CD: "The Shelter!!!" Favorite track so far: written by Sara Groves: "Lay it Down" featuring David Crowder and Dawn Richardson of Fireflight.
Oh, we'll never be short on people
And we'll never be short on trouble
It's a well worn path so how on Earth
Can ye feel alone?
Why carry on our own
What's coming to all men?
Why drag your bag of bones
To hell and back again?
Why carry on our own
What's coming to all men?
Look around
Lay it down
Oh, we'll never be short on Good News
And somebody to tell our story to
And we'll never be short on redemption
The light for the dark
Why carry on our own
What's coming to all men?
Why drag your bag of bones
To hell and back again?
Why carry on our own
What's coming to all men?
Look around
Lay it down
Why carry on our own
What's coming to all men?
Look around
Why carry on our own
What's coming to all men?
Why drag your bag of bones
To hell and back again?
Why carry on our own
What's coming to all men?
Look around
Lay it down
Look around
Lay it down

Deuteronomy 6: 4-5
God our God!
God, the one and only!
Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got!
God, the one and only!
Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got!

Slow Your Breath and Take it Slow
This chest is full of memories
Of gold and silver tears
I’ll give you more to own than
All of this
And I’ll give you more than years
For you were once a child of innocence
And I see you just the same
Your burdens couldn’t win or
Lose a thing
Oh, I’d tell you once again
But you’re always on the run
Slow your breath down
Just take it slow
Find your heart now, oh
You can trust and love again
Slow your breath down, just take it slow
Find your smile now, oh
You can trust and love again
If you leave I’ll still be close to you
When all your fears rain down
I’ll take you back a thousand times again
I’ll take you as my own
I would sing you songs of innocence
‘Til the light of morning comes
‘Til the rays of gold and honey cover you
In the sweetness of the dawn
But you’re always on the run
You’re not alone
You’re now a part of me
You feel the cure
I’ll feel the toil it brought you

Changes
Funny how I've planned so many things in my life and yet a lot of the stuff that I've tried to control and "make happen," hasn't happened that way at all. The only thing that I've gotten that I've wanted is becoming a teacher (and even with that, it was ALL BY THE GRACE OF GOD). The rest, God has showed me time and time again that it's really in His Hands and I just need to enjoy the moments of the ride He's placed me on. I'm not the driver, but the passenger. Is this a bad thing? No...but it used to drive me crazy. I'm calmer these days and things are good. :) Rest easy; sleep peacefully....

No one said it was easy....
I've been listening to this song regularly again. It's old, but one of Coldplay's best songs. :)
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are
I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I've set you apart
Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start
Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on the science apart
Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start
I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart
Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart
Oh tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start
Running in circles
Chasing our tails
Coming back as we are
Nobody said it was easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
I’m going back to the start
Oh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ah ooh ooh ooh ooh
Oh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Oh ooh ooh ooh ooh

You've gotten me this far God...you're going to help me reach the end.....
Thanks for my life, the people in my life and the pleasures of everyday things that remind me of your goodness. You give inspiration to not just live, but to to live it to its fullest. Thank you Jesus.
I pray for those who in my life who know someone who's ill with something that can only be healed by You. We look to You as our source of life and strength. May you give each of these people more days to enjoy the family and friends that surround. May you be the Restorer and bring of life to broken bodies.
For those who are being attacked spiritually and who are not living victoriously as you intended: I pray that they would walk in Your grace. Father, clothe them with your armour and may they have the necessary defenses to stand again the enemy's attacks. May they be filled with Your Spirit and Your truth. May they advance onward as You call them into the battlefield. I pray for small victories to reach the big ones.
And may You lead and guide your people. Inspire us. Grow us. Help us to have impact--to be in this world but not of it. Salt. And. Light.
In Jesus' name only, amen.
And on a lighter note, really digging this song right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give this tune a whirl! :D

Keep it in check
You know, some things make so much sense when you say it over and over to yourself in your head. It's only when you're talking to a friend and when the words finally come out of your mouth do you realize how crazy you sound for even thinking such things.

It's Our Choice
My Friend Josh Shipp is one of the greatest communicators I've heard. He's only in his twenties but speaks around the country at high schools and is often a guest on MTV. Kids love him because he is funny and direct. Josh grew up in more than twenty foster homes, never knowing his real parents. And yet he is incredibly successful. I asked Josh why he's so healthy, so emotionally stable considering his childhood.
"Don, when something hard happens to you, you have two choices in how to deal with it. You can either get bitter, or better. I chose to get better. It's made all the difference."
--excerpt from "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" by Donald Miller
If I could write my facebook status or tweet here on my blog, I'd simply say, "I'm DIGGIN' this book!!" :D Wow, and I thought I forgot how to read! :D

Then and Now
I've battled for my own heart and happiness and God has been good in letting me be victorious for the last few months.
Was talking to a buddy about how being a worship leader, you feel attacked on so many levels. Inadequate in so many ways and struggles with confidence are magnified. You're on the frontline and Satan wants to take you out quickly and painfully.
I feel like these last few months has been so fast-paced and yet I've crawled most of the way. Been on my knees more and not in terms of how much more I pray (but I do need to do more of that), but I feel the desperation is growing. Please God don't let me lose that...I'm prideful and definitely always think I can do it my own way. So easy to fall for that trap--I'm good at it. Keep me at your feet.
Liking this song right now. From the latest Flyleaf CD Memento Mori is their first single "Again:"

Try Hard
I'm putting too much effort into this really...just getting more and more sick and making my body weak. Really. Is it worth it?! Is it going to pay off??? Since when did I start working so hard and actually start taking work seriously?!?!

Another year has come and gone
Year 2 of my teaching career is finished. I can't believe how quickly time has passed by. Wasn't it just yesterday where I got into University and aspired to be a teacher? So young...so full of dreams. And now....???? :)
On the last day of school, a group of grade 1s were bringing in their visual journals to my classroom (*Note a visual journal is a collection of art projects that collect their work from grade 1 all the way up to grade 9. The book gets passed on to the next year every year. It's a great keepsake to see how a kid has developed in their art and their reflective writing*).
One of my students asked, "Are these kids giving you their journals because they're your students next year?"
"Could be," I said. "Could be."
Now after I said this, I looked at the grade 1s to see how they would react. Most were fine except one girl. Her eyes widened like she just had a horrific revelation. Oh little girl. If you only knew. If you only knew what was in store for you by having me as your teacher.
But until then....two months off! Yah! I plan on doing some exercise, reading and yes, even catching up on some valuable PS3 time!!!!
Oh and I will be catching up on tunes...like this one:
Boys (Lesson One) by Jars of Clay
Lesson one - do not hide
Lesson two - there are right ways to fight
And if you have questions
We can talk through the night
So you know who you are
And you know what you want
I've been where you're going
And it's not that far
it's too far to walk
But you don't have to run
you'll get there in time
Lesson three - you're not alone
Not since I saw you start breathing on your own
You can leave, you can run, this
will still be your home
So you know who you are
And you know what you want
I've been where you're going
And it's not that far
it's too far to walk
But you don't have to run
you'll get there in time
Get there in time
In time, to wonder where the days have gone
In time, to be old enough to
wish that you were young
When good things are unraveling,
bad things come undone
You weather love and lose your innocence
There will be liars and
thieves who take from you
Not to undermine the consequence
But you are not what you do
And when you need it most
I have a hundred reasons why I love you
If you weather love and lose your innocence
Just remember - lesson one

"I'm Still Here" by Vertical Horizon
I found the pieces in my hand
They were always there
It just took some time to understand
You gave me words I just can't say
So if nothing else
I'll hold on while you drift away
Cause everything you wanted me to hide
Is everything that makes me feel alive
Cities grow
Rivers flow
Where you are, I'll never know
But I'm still here
If you were right and I was wrong
Why are you the one that's gone
I'm still here
Still here
Seeing the ashes in my heart
The smile the widest
When I cry inside and my insides blow apart
I tried to wear another face
Just to make you proud
Just to make you put me in my place
But everything you wanted from me
Is everything that I could never be
Cities grow
Rivers flow
Where you are, I'll never know
But I'm still here
If you were right and I was wrong
Why are you the one that's gone
I'm still here
Maybe tonight
It's gonna be alright
I will get better
Maybe today
It's gonna be okay
I will remember
I held the pieces of my soul
I was shattered and I wanted you to come and make me whole
When I saw you yesterday
But you didn't notice
And you just walked away
Cause everything you wanted me to hide
Is everything that makes me feel alive
Cities grow
Rivers flow
Where you are, I'll never know
But I'm still here
If you were right and I was wrong
Why are you the one who's gone
And I'm still here
The lights go out, the bridges burn
Once you're gone, you can't return
I'm still here
Remember how you use to say I'd be the one to runaway
But I'm still here

Week 1 of Holidays
Just got home from a house warming party for Bo with some old friends. It was amazing. Just had a blast with some of our conversations and I'm amazed as I look back at how far we've gotten after all of these years. Congrats Bo on your place again and Happy Birthday dude!
I can't believe a week has gone by with no work. I feel like time is flying by. I had a dream last night that it was September and my new students came into my class. It was hectic and I was yelling at the kids and they weren't sure what to make of me because they didn't know my expectations. I can't believe that I'm already thinking about work....I am not when I'm awake...just in my sleep? LOL. Maybe subconciously I am itching to get back but I doubt it...I love it right now!! :) Thank you Jesus for the summer break!
A few more weeks 'til Comic Con....Can't wait!!! Still not sure if I'm going to camp. 50/50 right now but seems like Bo wants to go in 3rd week of August which might be the most convinient time....see what happens. I do want to see the cousins in Vancouver and Regina though. I love travelling. The main times I wish I were rich are when I desire to travel and realize I don't have the finances to cover them. Oh the places we could go.... oh well, for now, I can just dream and picture what may come to pass one day :)
