Happy Halloween Peeps! :P

Halloween was really fun at Marion Carson and I don't know if it's like this at other schools, but today was a pretty easy going day. We played another version of Quiddich in Phys. Ed. and it took 20 minutes to explain! The kids only had 10 minutes to play and it was chaos...well, controlled chaos haha. I think we will be playing Quiddich again soon because it took so long to explain it. It would definitely be worth it play it again...maybe tommorrow. That means we'd push the Volleyball unit off for a few days! :)

The teachers were all dressed up and so were most of the kids. I think the most popular costume this year is the pirate! I wore my costume lol but it didn't match anyone else's because they were all more like Pirates from the Caribbian type costumes! :)

A few of the classes had so much junk food in them...I was very envious because my students didn't bring much. One student hooked us up with Timmy's doughnuts though haha. I was so full becuase my bro packed me tons of pasta but when the student offered me a doughnut, I took one and ate it because I didn't want to hurt his feelings! :P I'm still actually really full and I haven't eaten dinner yet which is weird beause I usually would've eaten dinner by an hour ago!

I'm still waiting for trick or treaters....lol...we have candy but not much. We only got like 4 kids last year and maybe 8 the year before haha. Maybe I should go turn my porch light on? :P

Oh and one last thing: I think I'm a nice teacher because the only thing I assigned for homework for today was to have a safe time during Trick or Treating lol. Tommorrow though, we get down to business! :P

Evil

Well a lot of people have noticed that I'm looking for a costume to wear for Halloween at Marion Carson. One person started talking to me about how evil Halloween is and seriously, I was thinking, "shut the heck up!!!" Okay, I had to clean it up a bit....but it was along those lines....:P Seriously, I don't mind Christians, but Christian Bigots, well, that's another thing! :P Must be one of those "Chinese Conservative Christian" type things aka 3C or even...C^3....:P

I'm about to start another book by Donald Miller entitled, "Searching for God Knows What" and when I was reading the back, it was talking about how if we are attracted to Christ but Christians are turning us off, we should read this book...so maybe God wants to speak to me through this bad boy....let's hope God can speak some more life into me--I need it! :P

Man, I love this new Skillet song entitled "Rebirthing." I heard it on Saturday on Red Letter Rock and actaully, I heard it when testing the CD out at CP the day before that even. I heard it on Shine for the first time yesterday morning and it was a nice song to wake up to haha...well, it was good in the sense that I couldn't get back to sleep becuase it was so heavy haha. The above, is the video of the song so check it out if you like good tunes! :) The band even has a female drummer which is kind of cool because those hardly exist haha. The other chick that sings/play guitar/keyboards is the wife of the lead singer.

I also have rediscovered the first album by Falling Up. "Jacksonfive" is a hot track haha. I love when I fall in love with old CDs.... :P

*** UPDATE ***

One last thing before I close this entry...the trailer for season 6 of 24 has been released and you can view it at: http://www.24trailer.com/ Man, I can't wait 'til Jan. 14, 2007!!!!

6 Things I Know About You....

Instructions: Write a journal entry for this meme with six random facts about yourself.
Then, pick six of your friends list and tag them - no tag backs.
These rules should be included in your entry. Like Alicia, I'll tag whoever wants it...:P

One: This year was the first year I have ever seen a shooting star. Maybe I saw one as a kid, but I really don't remember doing so. During Summer Camp, I was lying under the stars and saw a small one and I was so amazed because I don't remember ever seeing one. Just last week at Outdoor School, I saw the biggest one EVER lol....and it was so big all the kids who were with me on the hill saw it too and it was the perfect moment for all of us. We were in such awe! :)

Two: People think that just becuase I collect toys, I'll collect any toy. If's it's not related to something I like (eg. Marvel, Simpsons, Street Fighter, DC, TMNT, Transformers, etc.). I'm really picky about these things....and they not only have to be related to the these things I listed above, they HAVE to be action figures. Just becuase I like X-Men, doesn't mean I like collecting X-Men junk!!! :P

Three: I enjoy spending money if I know that what my money is going to has something of lasting value. I don't mind spening for the sake of an experience, but I'm more hesitant about it. I'm starting to be more willing to spend money for vacations though...:)

Four: I hope to be able to visit my child I've sponsered through World Vision one day. He's in Chilie; his name is Matias; He's 3 years old. :)

Five: I can't stand people who overstep their boundaries. Yes, you're my friend and yes, you have a say and are entitled to speak but don't think that gives you to interfere with things in my life. You have your own; deal with that! :P

Six: I'm actually more of a loner even though I like being in the mist of Social Gatherings. Though I need my time with friends, I enjoy being with myself and listening to music, reading, watching TV or just relaxing. However, when I need my friends, boy do I NEED THEM!! :) I think a fix of friends is quite healthy when it comes to the weekends but during weekdays, I'm all biz-nazz!!! :)

When Things Show Up

So I thought I lost my Switchfoot "Nothing is Sound" CD but I finally found it after half a year of looking for it. It was in my Veggie Tales CD case. :P Now to find my United "United We Stand" CD because it turns out when something shows up, something else is lost to take its place. I hope that CD shows up soon because it's a good one! :P

Today I went to watch Mrs. Wilson's (Cayla Wilson's mom), teach her grade 1s. Man, I've made a decision: I don't miss Div. 1 kids at all. When I teach, I hope to have a grade 4, 5 or 6 class! The younger ones are cute and all, but I just can't stand how they tattle, how they can't spell, how they can't read, etc., etc. haha!! I loved Div. 1 last year but once I've tasted Div. 2, I think there's no going back for me! :P Haha...we'll see. I'm all talk! :P

I didn't do any lesson planning this week and that's great. It gave me a chance to do some leisurely reading and currently, I'm almost done "To Own a Dragon." Donald Miller has become my favorite writer so I hope to pick up the rest of his books soon. I know, who'd a thought, ME?!?! Having a favorite author? Get the heck out of here! I owe the rediscovery of leisurley reading to my field prof. from my 1st year. I despised the old battle axe but that's one thing she truly gave back to me which I'm thankful for! :P Jon's right, it's about time the U of C gave something to me! :P

I'm with The Captain

Hey gang, I'm super tired; I got to get some sleep! Also, my bro is waiting for the comp so I'll keep it brief! :P

I'm back from Outdoor School and I'm tired. The kids are funny becuase a lot of them were homesick and were crying to go back home and even though I tried to reassure them and comfort them, boy, was I homesick lol! I'm glad I'm home! I need sleep as I haven't had a decent night's rest all week so looking forward to that! :)
Hope those kids settled in and that there won't be anymore crying episodes from them tonight! :P

I'm dumb. I always forget to: a) bring my own toilet paper, b) bring snacks, c) buy a flashlight and bring it to camp and d) didn't bring any winter gloves or boots to camp (because I don't have any!) Wow!!! Was it cold on the first day or what? Good thing I brought wool socks and wore two layers of pants (sweats and my PJs)!!!

I added a new display picture of my blog and it looks like Civil War is going to end up having Captain America's band of heroes kick the crap out of Iron Man's. The picture is from a January issue of Black Panther where he and his wifey Storm choose to side with Cap. The cover is nice because it's drawn by Micahel Turner: creator of Witchblade! Man, if Storm, Panther, Namor, Punisher, Spider-Man and Invisible Woman (who betrays her marriage to Mr. Fantastic), to join Cap's side, is there any indication that Iron Man can win this war? :P Go Cap, Go!!!!

That's all for tonight folks! Goodnight!!!! :)

PS Does anyone know the name of the Skanky Orange Cat Chick in the skimpy bikini in the display pic?

How Sweet It Was...

I've just realized, gloves are really hard to come by. :P I had lost my winter gloves on the bus for the second time last year and I tried finding them again but this time, I had no luck in retrieving them back! :( So this led me to go to Market Mall and every store I went to, I couldn't decide on the pair I wanted. Most of the good stuff was going at $60 a pair!!! :( I decided to try Sports Mart up in Crowfoot but the gloves were the same price! Oh yeah, I forgot to explain, the reason I want new gloves is becuase I'm going to Outdoor School and I don't want my fingers to freeze. My kids were outside for gym today and my fingers hurt like heck!!! I guess more pain to come for me at Outdoor School! :P

So today was so busy in class. I didn't even get to teach the two lessons I had prepared becuase we were trying to get so much done before Outdoor School. Oh well, looks like it was a relaxful day for me today but I guess it wasn't in a way becuase I had the stress of worrying about teaching.....regardless if I taught or not, there was still some worry! :P

I still haven't packed yet for outdoor school but I guess I'm only going for 1 night and 2 days so no worries right? Packing will take no time at all :P

I've been complaining to a certain few people over the weekend that I feel like the Sweetness of Life is gone in my life. I don't know....it's not that I've lost the will to live lol. It's just that the things in life isn't as "tasty" (as Jon Chu would say). For whatever reason that is, I'm hoping it'll pick up again. I spent a long time talking to God about it on Saturday Night before sleeping and my heart was quite heavy. My talks with this one person really gave me insight though and I think even her just providing an ear for me was enough to put my heart at ease. Actually, talking to God about it was a big deal too...especially after talking to the boys at Alley Fellowship about being honest with Him. It was a combination of so many things. :P Despite all that, there's still a lot to look forward to I know. My mind knows and my heart is starting to believe again. I can live life and embrace it like honey again....maybe there is something for me to look forward to lol....:)

One last note for today. One of my closest friends at Marion Carson's partner teacher is this chick: Mrs. Wilson. I saw a pic in her room today and it was a pic of her daughter...and then I blurt out: "I didn't know you are Cayla Wilson's mom!?!?" LOL..small world. She started talking to me about Lyndsey Hubble, Laura Henwood and Lindsay Riegel lol. I can totally see the resemblance now. I find it funny because we were at Applebee's yesterday and I told Karen: "Cayla Wilson works here!" LOL..and then I talked about her again today. Weirdness! :P

Wow Sunday Post!

It's been awhile since I've posted on a Sunday hasn't it? Check my blogs in the past archives if you don't believe me....:P

It's been an interesting day for me. First of all, I found out that they play Veggie Tales, 3-2-1 Penguins and the animated Larry Boy on NBC on Saturday Mornings! Sweetness! Who needs to purchase these videos at CP when we can just record them and play them at church? I've tried downloading them but the quality is decreased and the kids noticed I pirated them lol. Also, the downloaded versions freeze up. I told my leaders I was planning on buying the downloaded Veggie Tales sometime after DVBS but I didn't do that. LOL...why should I go overbudget because of these videos? Let another ministry handle it! :P

Speaking of videos, I bought the DVD of the 3rd Angel Wars Episode for church but before giving it away, I was planning on watching it first. Today was that day and it was pretty good! I know some of the kids are dying to watch it because episode 2 left off with a "to be continued.." so this third episode is finally avaliable after months of wondering what happens to Ariannah! :P

I don't know what's with the tendency for me to get things done but with lesson planning, I always want to think of a lesson plan and get it done at the first sitting. This doesn't usually happen and it frustrates me because I always want to "work now, play later." Well today, I was going to do lesson planning because yesterday, I sat and read up on some of the ones made up by Edmonton Public Schools with no productivity on how to enhance these plans and make them my own with my own ideas. Well, I didn't get anything done today in terms of lessons. However, I did crack open the Program of Studies and now I have a vision of where to go next with the Sky Science Unit. We're wrapping up Constellations before heading out to Outdoor School on Monday so I was wondering what to do next. Actaully wait, I'll be honest. I was STRESSING haha. So looks like the natural thing to do is move from a group of stars and talk about the biggest star in our solar System: The Sun. Most people don't know this but even though The Sun is the largest star in our Solar System, it's actually only an average star considering the size of the stars in our galaxy and beyond! :P So with Science mapped out in my mind, I just need a plan for Math. I have no idea what to do for this Unit and I'm hoping my partner teacher will give me some guidance....:P

I also got to watch the hockey games but because The Flames were making a comeback in the 2nd period, I decided not to watch any further because I was getting aggrivated. I still followed along online though lol...that is, until the Oilers game came on. That was also a nerve wrecking game....:) I heart my Oilers....:)

It's been cool talking to Alicia on MSN so much and it's funny because even though she's in TO, I still feel like she's in Calgary almost. Well, it'll be official soon so I can't wait.

Speaking of Alicia, she told me that Bubblemania was closed by health inspectors. It wasn't only that restaraunt, but apparently 47 other ones as well. Dang, I'm glad I don't eat at Bubblemania anymore lol. However, I've eaten at a few of these other ones closed down and that is bothering me. I'm sticking with Calgary Court! :P For a list of the restaurants closed for failing health inspections, click the following link:48 Restaraunts Closed by Health Inspectors Haha...why are so many of these dirty restaurants Viet places? :P

Jesus Camp

Hello gang,

How is everyone doing? It's been a busy week but it went by very fast. I've been sick all week...hence the lack in blogging! :P It was funny because at Alley Fellowship last night, everyone was sick except Geo lol. Hope you made it out without our germs affecting you! :P

So I went to the Ebert & Roeper website to see what they've been rating movies lately and I stumbled upon a movie they just rated called "Jesus Camp." It's a documentary which shows kids who go to summer camps and basically want to be the next Billy Graham! Here's a link to the trailer for those who haven't seen it:

JESUS CAMP TRAILER

So what do you think? I'm a Christian, but I really don't know what to think about this......hmmmm....:P

3 Weeks Down, 8 More to Go!! :P

Today I woke up at 4:45am (that's one minute off of Crystal's time...maybe she was awake too! :P). Anyways, I woke up and my throat was dry and I was panicking 'cause everyone at Marion Carson is sick be it student or teacher haha. Jerks...I don't want to be fighting a germ they gave me over what was suppose to be a relaxing long weekend! :( When I woke up, I decided to go take a whiz and then I headed downstairs to grab my water bottle to moisten up my dry throat. Since I was down there, I decided to check my zoo lol. I hope someone can make a donation to my zoo becuase my Snowy Owl is ever so lonely! :(

Today I drove down Crowchild and looked over at Brentwood and there were tons of parking spaces so I decided to give it a try and even by 8:30am, there were still more than a handful of stalls left! I was going to walk to school but decided to catch the 73 when it drove past me and I thought it'd take me to school instantly but it actually took me about 5 minutes more than it did before because the route has changed to accomidate the new Children's Hospital. It's nice from the outside! :)

Well Thanksgiving Feast today. I'm excited like heck! Hooray, the long weekend is upon us! :)

I love Bebo

I've noticed that on my Ipod, I have a lot of songs by Bebo Norman and I think I should pick up his new CD at CP sometime soon. I just love the sound of his voice. It's so...how do you describe it? I have no words for it?!? And no, don't comment on this blog entry with some smart-mouth answer like "sexy" 'cause that's not what I'm illuding too! :P

So the lesson went pretty well today considering the chaos. LOL...my partner teacher and my prof gave me some good feedback. So 1 lesson down, 2 more to go in terms of evaluations from my prof! :P

It's been a rollercoaster for me. I swear this Sky Science Unit has given me a headache on more than one ocasion but I have the next few lessons planned out (in my head at least), and I should be good to go for two weeks. That means I'm covered 'til the end of Outdoor School! I should still plan some more though lol. I tried writing my lessons I have in my head down today, but I only got one lesson written down...haha...procrastination!!! :P

One last note, I'm teaching Phys. Ed. now too. I'm teaching the unit on Soccer and tommorrow is my first lesson in it. I'm going to teach the kids about proper dribbling technique. A lof of my kids already are involved in soccer and I am teaching them about technique? Do you find this ironic? I certainly do....:P

Adjusted to Right

The one good thing about the new Itunes I have is that it converts all the audio files on my computer to the same volume level. I hated the fact that some tracks were very loud but when say a crappy old version of a great worship song starts playing, it's so quiet. The unbalance has driven me insane but I guess that problem is solved now thanks to Itunes! :P

Oh man, tommorrow is the day of my evaluation so let's hope that I can survive this first of 3 from my field advisor.

Speaking of which, I'm having such troubles with planning this Sky Science Unit. I have the Edmonton Public stuff and I know I was saying it was such a great resource, but it really isn't. Now I know what Jacklyn was talking about when she bashed this resource. I loved it for the younger kids and modifying the lessons were easy, but for the grade 6s, the resource really sucks haha. Can anyone help me with some Sky Science ideas?!?! DAHHHHH!!!!!!

I Had That Dream Again....

...the one about living in Rundle with the place full of Spiders....freaky....

Do you ever have a time when you want to blog about something becuase it happened to you but when you get home and want to type it, you found that you forgot what you wanted to blog about? Well that happened to me today....:P

I'm really peeved right now because someone on my msn had a virus on her computer and the virus automatically sends msgs to ppl asking ppl to open a file. I thought it was a pic and the message was typed in her "linguo" so I opened it and now I have a trojan horse virus in my computer. Norton picked it up and warned me about it, but it says that no action was taken on it. Why? Is it done infecting my computer or is it still running rampant? Is there anyway to get rid of this baby (if it's still around), without erasing everything on my hard drive? Anyone?

****Update

Wait, Sam took care of the problem! :P So I guess my blog's about nothing!! :P

****Update x2

Sweet Maria, what the heck is going on with Prison Break? You're going to give me a heart attack!!!

*SPOILER ALERT*

Looks like my predictions of the two possible chracters being killed off was in fact correct! Who'd a thought I'd be right on both accounts? :P

*End SPOILER ALERT*

Leo quitting YAC??

Actually, no...not that I know of haha. But I remember three of my dreams last night and one of them was of Leo telling me he was leaving YAC committee and I started panicking because he told me only and I had no idea what to do lol. Hope it's not a sign of things to come! :P

The second dream was of me teaching a gym class at Hawkwood with my old partner teacher and the phys. ed. specialist teacher. I had a dream that I was running a gym class there but I ran it how Marion Carson does it and not Hawkwood. The teachers thought I was taking too long in explaining the games so they took over and brushed me aside. What a burn!! Yeah, both schools do their gym programs completely different so that was a scary dream for me to have my teaching brushed aside haha.

The third dream I remember having was that I was back at Rundle again and I was once again looking for bugs to kill in my room. The dream was so real and I really believed I was living there again. Thank Jesus I'm not. I think I dreamt about this because after 2 years of collecting dust, I finally put Animal Crossing back in the Gamecube a few days ago and when I visited my house, it was infested with cocroaches...yeah so I guess that's why I got my dream about that....:P

I think it's pretty significant for me to remember three dreams all from one night. I've had multiple dreams on various occassions but I could never remember all of them when I woke up. Hmmm...I wonder if I keep thinking, if I can remember 4? Haha...have any of you ever done that? Who can remember all their dreams when they have multiple ones? It's so hard isn't it? Yeah baby, you know it is!!! :P

Give Me a Break

Hey everyone, it's break time for me for my lecture...1 more hour to go. I used to hate coming to the U for classes, but it's actually a nice break from the classroom and teaching. I take the opportunity to come to the U to talk to all the student teachers and it's really refreshing to be with them and to be away from the kids.

Now the Bowzoo thing is really interesting. For those of you who don't know, Jackson started some game where we can run our own zoo and buy animals and attractions. I've been experimenting a lot today with buying and selling animals/attractions and I've learnt a lot. Too bad I had to lose a few hundred bucks in the process lol. And because of that, I can't give you guys any hints MWAHAHAHHA!!! Oh well, I don't have the most animals but I do believe my animals are very unique and not too common. As for the burger stand, I can't seem to keep it. I've bought a burger stand practically 3 or 4 times but have sold it back for monies to buy other things.

One last thing about the zoo thing is that according to sources, Karen's blog is a place for her to lie. She's not saving up for an aquarium like she blogged about. Sources tell me she is going to buy the Polar Exhibit!!! :P Watch out for this monster!!! :P

Home Wrecker

Haha...well maybe more of a school wrecker. I've seriously been so discouraged about not being able to get any ideas on how to run some lessons my teacher asked me to prepare. He asked me to prepare some lessons on the phases of the moon and I literally sat there with nothing coming to mind for a few days. Man, that really tested me. I've also been teaching and my teacher has really given me some constructive feedback. He listed lots of good things, but he also listed a few suggestions here and there and for some reason, the bad stuff is always hard to listen to isn't it? I think teachers are quit insecure as it about the way they teach. I really have been questioning all of this but I feel like a big load has been lifted off my shoulders right now because the lessons are coming together. At first I felt intimidation in regards to these lessons but heck, I can DO this right? I just want to do a good job in impressing my teacher and getting a good review. My field advisor is coming to see me do one of the lessons on the moon so I guess that was another reason for my stress. Who needs two adults breathing down my neck about my teaching? Haha...it sucks, but I still want to be teachable. I know I'm already a part of this fatherless generation where I find it hard to take advice from my father, my spiritual fathers, etc. Still, I vowed to God I would try to be teachable so God, help me to be true to that. Give me a teachable attitude so I can be a good teacher myself.....:)

Preservere

Crap, I made a really bad decision in buying something on ebay. I paid wayyyy too much for that....man I hate when that happens! :P

Today, was my first day of teaching at Marion Carson and the lesson went pretty smoothly for the most part. Man oh man...the kids are quite good to me because they actually listen to me even though I haven't done much to earn their respect. Tommorrow, I will be teaching Phys. Ed. and on Wednesday, I will start the Sky Science unit. This unit makes me nervous becuase it's such an abstract concept. How do you explain the stars when you can't even bring one to class to show the kids and experiment on? Yeah, exactly!!! :P It'll be fun for the kids though because I know I loved learning about the stars so much when I was young. Oh baby, let this be good!!! :)

I've been busy lately and I have no idea why but I just can't seem to shake off the negative feelings towards student teaching. My partner teacher has been good to me so I know God's blessed me. Oh Lord just get me through this. It's so close to being finished; I can taste it. Just a little less than 10 more weeks.....it's getting better though, it really is!!! I'm trying to soak up more of God and spend more time with Him these days. I know I need to focus on Him and not on circumstance. With this refocus, I've been a lot happier. I've been at peace and I'm just enjoying my time. Wow, I've made it seem like I've had a complete change but it's just starting to get good again for me.....like as of yesterday..or maybe it was Friday lol. I seriously repented of some serious issues on Friday so maybe it was then...but Sunday was the day I started feeling super again....okay, that's enough of that. Whether it was Friday or Sunday, it's getting good....hopefully it continues that way....:)

Stories We've Got 'em!!!

Ooooh shoot....I almost forgot, I'm doing Junior Church this week.....:P Is that necessarily a bad thing though? I will be missing a sermon this week I guess....:)

I also forgot to mention that there is a student in my class who reminds me a lot of Eunice...but she's white. Her face is similar to Eunice's and so is her personality lol. It's not a bad thing...she's one of the more intellegent ones in my class.

I really am starting to like my class a whole lot more. At first, I missed my first class from last year because those grade 1 and 2 kids are cute because they're so young and innocent. However, some of these grade 6 kids are pretty smart and I'm starting to like them a whole lot more. They really impress me with their brain power. There are more boys in my class than girls and it makes everything really wonky. I love how all these white boys want to be either in the NHL, NFL or the PGA Tour when they grow up--they're such athletes haha. Some of the boys are REALLY popular with the girls in my class and that impresses me because they're developing the ability to MAC haha! Today we had indoor lunch break and the kids popped a CD in and started dancing. It's weird how they weren't self conscious about it all because I remember most kids were when I was that age....especially when the opposite gender was around.

I had to read a portion of a book to my class today and it was hard because some of the words were big and I struggled pronouncing them. I wonder if my kids think I'm a retard now lol.

My first lesson is in Math (my choice), and will be done on Monday. It's a lesson based on getting the kids to recognize patterns and produce them using manipulatives. Pray for me; pray for Mojo!!! :)

Wow, I Remember?

Today was the birthday of our assistant principal at Marion Carson: Mr. Harley Stewart. Why should you care? Well, there's an interesting story behind it all because I was only introduced to him yestrday and nothing came to mind but today however, I started to realize that I knew him from somewhere. I even remember from where: he was my grade 5 teacher from Queen's Park!! What a small world. We started talking about how "interesting" that school was and man, I'm so glad he made it out of there because he was too good for that school! :P Maybe that's why it got torched by a student and instead of rebuilding it, they built a new French school instead lol.

On another note, there is a student in my class who looks a lot like Geri. Or is it Jerry? You know: JERRY, JERRY, JERRY!!! I wonder if there is any relation there....:)

Aha Moment?

Wow, I originally wrote a really negative post about things and was editting when I heard the door bell ring. This was the second time it rang as it also rang when I was on the 'net contemplating whether I should even write the post in the first place. However, before publishing the post, I heard the door bell for the second time and decided to open the door. It wasn't anyone that I knew but let's just say after opening the door, I had a change of heart in everything. I don't know....after this experience, everything was just put into prespective and I don't know...I was definitely reminded of how I should really change my prespective on things and I just feel a huge negative feeling lifted off my shoulders......have you ever had that feeling? Wow, it's been awhile.....
