Series of Misfortunate Events...

What can I say? It's been a really relaxing holiday and this week has been by far my favorite week of the whole time I've had off. I am glad everyone who is from out of town has come back and made themselves so accessible for hang outs and we've had some good chats. The hang outs have been great, even though they were just simple lounging around and Dutch Blitzing! :) The 'event' hang outs have been a little chaotic and what I posted on Tony's blog was true: I hate planning things. I even hate inviting ppl over to my place becuase I hate being responsible for the entertainment. Hmmmm....hope New Years goes okay. I mean the Zoo Lights, Kyoto 17 and Talisman Center were all a little...um...well, they could've used some improvements on how those nights ran...but I do feel like the blame can be put on my shoulders. Don't worry, I'm not looking for symapthy...just an honest thought. :) I also hope Jacklyn's and Karen's wounds will heal due to my ricocheting basketballs!

Does anyone have any New Years Resolutions? Hmmm...I'm trying to think of some that I can actually have success in completing. My mind draws blanks as I am a little more realistic now....I need to set some goals that are attainable...I'll have to think of some! :)

Okay...that's about it for now...sleeping over at Leo's tonight with the youth...hope that goes well....I'll be teaching on Purity to the boys...hmmmm....if we could only spend at least 2 parts on this topic, that would be great.......however, I've been limited to this one night...so pray for me...Lord, HELP!!!

**UPDATE** Looks like not many ppl are coming over for New Years Eve....just got about 6 people confirmed....oh well, at least that means I won't have to entertain that many people and more food for me! :P

Today was Zoo Lights, long dinner at Kyoto 17 and DVD purchasing of seasons 2 and 3 of 24 and season 1 of Lost. We went to Jon's house to watch...though I really did want to play Dutch Blitz and see the studio....sorry :( Maybe I'll make it up to my competitors somehow soon..... :(

1. You can't live in Calgary anymore and you must chose a permanent new home (i.e. for the rest of your life). If money was not an issue, where would you go and why would you pick that city?

Haha…you know, I’ve only thought about this very recently but I’m sure I’d pick somewhere like Australia. I heard it’s actually the most desirable places to live in the world. I have a friend from the MT program who was talking about how people could live on the beach and take the ferry to work…could you imagine the view everyday? Could you imagine the relaxation on a ferry? How romantic it would be to just head to work with your woman every morning? Oh yeah, the beaches are lookin’ pretty nice too right about now!!! :) The only thing is, the housing is so expensive now….so if money wasn’t an issue, I’d be there in a sec!

2. What's the most you've eaten in one sitting?

I wish I could remember an exact instance of this but I can’t…sorry. When I was young, I could eat a lot more than I could now. We would go to buffets like “Treasures of China” or “Foody Goody” and I would eat SO MUCH….no wonder I was such a fat little man. My mom set a goal for me to eat as much as I could for all you could eat lunch as she would never cooking dinner after those meals….so I could imagine that it was one of these sittings which I ate the most I’ve ever eaten. Then again, any Christmas party I was at as a lad could constitute the same result. :P

3. Someone offers you $1,000,000 if they can have complete control over your life for a week. You won't die, but you have no idea what you may be forced to do. Would you do it?

No Way!!! This reminds me of the questions we used to ask each other in Jr. High (i.e. If you were paid a million dollars, would you go jump in a swimming pool full of pee), lol…..just the thought of someone asking me to do that makes me cringe. Also, I don’t think I could let someone control of me at all……it’s hard for me to let someone tell me what to do…just ask those who’ve tried!!! :P

4. Would you rather dye your hair bright pink or pierce your nose?

Tough call…..I’d go with dying my hair bright pink because of the fact that it’s temporary! I like dyinig my hair…pink isn’t so bad of a colour after all!!! :P

5. Your house is burning down and you could only save one of your collections of action figures. Which set would you rescue?

This one is easier for me to answer because there is ONLY ONE toyline that I absolutely love like children and those are my figures from Marvel Legends. I grew up loving these Superheroes and wanting to be like them so it makes sense. I’m sure if I still had my Simpsons toys, I’d still pick my Marvel Legends figures over the cartooned figures…although my bro might think I were crazy—he’s still shaken up by the fact that those figures aren’t in this house anymore!! :) Hopefully if my house burns down, I can manage to hold all of my Marvel figures with my two short arms and guide them to safety!!!

A Story

So I went to go look for Lost Season 1 at Zellers yesterday with 5 minutes left until the store closed, and I was only disappointed to find that they were all sold out!!!!
:( In a mad panic of not wanting to leave empty handed, I ended up buying season 1 of my favoirte drama 24. I was going to lend it to Jon Wong but he gave it back to me as I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it because if I bought this, I'd want season 2-4 as well!! What an expensive purchase!!!

When I got home, I told my brother the story of my adventure. He also told me to return the gift too when I asked him what I should do. However, my bro comes to the computer and drops off a package for me a few hours later. I open it, and it's season 1 of 24!!! LoL, he wanted me to return the discs becuase he and Loma got the discs for me for my birthday!! Thanks bro!! LOL...looks, like all that hard work for nothing.....now I gotta get my hands on the rest of the seasons...and yeah, I'm still without Lost season 1..... :(



Thanks to all my QE friends who came over to make this a special day...haven't had you all out for awhile! Great food, great fun, and great time playing Balderdash!!! :) It's been a super busy holiday and I've barely had enough time to blog!!! :P Take it easy folks and keep it real!

New Layout for your Blogging Convinience.....

Okay, because Geo was complaining about my old template being messed up on his comp, I decided to change it. It's not really an improvement in my opinion, but it's a change nontheless...and this way, you can't say I don't listen to my loyal blog readers! :)

Well I've gone high and low, but today I found the light bulb for that present I was looking for *wink wink; nudge nudge*.....it's about time I found one too!! :P

After the light bulb shopping, I was headed home from Rona and then Crystal called me and asked me to acompany her as she needed to get the car washed...."what an odd request" I thought. Well the car was so gross and covered in red stuff on the outside and stunk like heck!! No wonder you wanted someone to be with you at that time because that would be a terrible thing to experience by yourself.....Uh...Crys, you owe me big time! I only wish I could've seen you covered in the "stinky red stuff." :P

Man, I don't know what it was but today's Chianti's dish I had was REALLY good...I had the Sicilian but I didn't have it with Linguini like it's usually served with, I had it with Penne and it was AWESOME! Happy Birthday Billie Jo!! :P It was a nice get together...though most of us were sweating like pigs due to the humidity! The Italian Sasuage in my dish didn't help either! :P

Christmas Shopping Concludes....NO, REALLY!!!

Okay, after lunch today, I went shopping again because I realized I missed two ppl....lol...I really should've made a list this year. Bad memory *sigh!!!* So I guess now I'm REALLY done shopping praise God!

The funny thing today is that I bought so much stuff for myself today. I ended up buying a Mace Windu FX Master Replica Lightsaber (impulse buy?!?!)...although I've been eyeing it since May.... :) I bought myself a CD rack and a DVD rack from Home Outfitters only because I found EXACTLY what I pictured in my head!! And at those prices, I didn't think anyone would be willing to buy those for me haha. They really were perfect in almost everyway lol. They were "Tall" and made out of metal...as I invisioned.....Although, I did end up filling up BOTH racks I bought!...so if anyone bought me those (ahem....*cough, cough* secret santa), as a gift, I still need some racks for DVDs and CDs so I won't be offended if I get those still! :P Man, Louise's car was totally packed with all my stuff lol! Praise God that they fit....and that's no exageration that I am thankful for that! :P




Still haven't watch King Kong yet so that means I haven't watched the X3 preview yet in theatres! :P It's all good though...maybe that means I won't fall for any hype and end up being disappointed when X3 finally comes around the corner! :P I heard Halle's got a bigger role in this one as she's expensive to get to act for since she's an Oscar winner...though she's been a horrible Storm so far....though Halle DOES sport a new hairstyle yet again.... :P They should give her Storm's famous mohawk from back in the day if they do a fourth X-Men movie lol....



I did get to watch Forest Gump today and I haven't seen that since when I was a young lad....this was my second time watching it and I forgot what a great job Tom Hanks does with this movie! :P I even forgot that the kid from the Sixth Sense was in it...haha.....That's a BIG thing to forget....especially when you come from a family who follow the lives of Hollywood Celebrities so closely. No, I'm not weird for doing that.....there ARE others who I know who do that too....where's Linda when you need her?! :P

X3 Day Number 3: A man who needs NO INTRODUCTION: James "Logan" Howlett...aka WOLVERINE!!! :P

I think I'm done my Christmas shopping for real now! :P I just gotta get the leftovers wrapped up. We hit Market Mall today (Geo, Karen and I), and I think most of us got done what needed to be done! :) We saw Gooi, Kenric, Tony, BJ and Cindy too. We finished shopping pretty fast...I love it when we're productive and not just hanging out a mall to kill time! :) Guys just don't operate that way at malls...seriously! :)

Afterwards, we went to Sushi Boat...and hung out at Geo's afterwards where Sarah, Jaxst and Andy came over to do some chatting.

All in all, a productive, fun, and relaxing day. It was mad COLD OUT though... :( The only thing which could've made the day more perfect was playing some Dutch Blitz! Too bad; so sad. Maybe tommorrow! :)

Tired, but Not Too Tired to Blog....

Yeah, it's late...I should go shower...really! :) I got most of my Christmas shopping done today and yes, I'm leaning towards not writing Christmas cards...for real...I'm sick of writing them! :)

The Christmas play was well done for what it was worth! I'm proud of my youth for what they came up with with such short notice and with little rehearsal time! Not much adult help for these guys and gals...so I have to say, "well done!"

So it's day two of X3 stuff...ya'll know who this person is? :P Take a guess; I DARE ya!!! :)

Hypothetical Questions

My friends and I always ask these questions and it makes me wonder: do they mean anything? I mean, they're fun to ask and even more fun to have discussions over but really, when we're asked a hypothetical question and answer with the hypothetical answer, is that actually how we're going to behave if the situation were actually to face us? Take for example:

Question #1 "Is it better to have kids early in a marriage or later? I mean, it'd be cool to be a young parent so you can actually play sports with the kids without a walking cane but wouldn't it be better to have kids after you've enjoyed your time with your spouse for a few years?"

Question #2- Would you prefere ending up with someone with an extremely low self-esteem or someone with an extremely high ego?

Those were just some of the questions I talked about with certain someones today and it came up in more than one conversation. Maybe it's not my friends; maybe it's just me who likes to think hypothetically...but they're great discussion starters and sometimes the answers could surprise you! :P

Since my last post talked about Iceman and how he's not going anywheres in the comicbooks, here's a picture spoiler of him for X3...but then again, you already know about who plays him! I'll be adding a new character up everytime I add a new post. There are a lot of returning characters so you'll know who they are but see if you can guess who the new characters are!

The Truth About Iceman

Okay, so the story started 3 issues ago with Bobby Drake aka Iceman having lost his powers and Lorna Dane aka Polaris (see above), believing she lost her powers...turns out that it's actually vice versa. It appears that Bobby only thought he lost his powers as the media telling everyone that mutants were losing their powers caused Bobby to believe he lost his powers and shut them down in his own brain. That's all find and dandy but it turns out that Polaris actually lost her powers for real.... :( It's not all in her head. Which makes sense because Scarlet Witch made sure her whole family (along with father Magneto and brother Quicksilver) lost their powers. It would only make sense that her half sister Lorna would lose hers too. This sucks 'cuase I love Polaris! She's got freaking green hair!!! :) I think they'll give her her powers back somehow eventually....there is a storyline with Apocolaypse coming back and maybe she gets them back by becoming one of his horsemen!!! Haha...I already saw a preview and it turns out that's how Sunfire (see above), is getting his powers back after Rogue stole them from him. He's also got his legs back as I heard they got sliced off haha!! :)




It's been a surprise to me that New Excalibur has been a pretty great read. I was collecting it merely becuase Dazzler and Juggernaut (see above) were in it.....but I love this series so far...

I love X-Factor SO MUCH....BEST READ of the day!!! :) You guys should seriously borrow this from me if you can't stop by and read it at your local comic/grocery/book store!!! :)

I picked up a total of 7 issues of comics today so I took my time reading today... :) See, I read! Sheesh....lay off and stop telling me to hit the books will ya?!!? :)

Watching "The Idiot Box".....

So what can I say? It's been a great ending for another season of Amazing Race and for Survivor. I like when things go my way.... :P I look forward to another season of each show starting in February.

Speaking of new seasons, 24 and American Idol start in January and it looks like my time spent on the tele will increase quite significantly in the next few months! I just hope school doesn't collide with the time I need to give to television lol.

BTW, Lost is a repeat tommorrow...DANG.... :(

My arm is tired after writing Christmas cards and I'm still not done getting the cards out for the youth. I don't know if I'll get cards out for anyone else this year...I know, I'm all talk. I was saying how I was going to give Christmas cards to everyone even if they weren't getting a gift from me but I am just sick of writing....haha....we'll see... :) My writing is messy anyways right? Haha...just smile and nodd and agree with me on this.... :)

Getting What I Want.....:D

I managed to go to Superstore with my bro this afternoon and I bought some stuff for people, myself and some groceries. It's a struggle this month for the family bills but I got to pay for the groceries for once... :) WOW...can't believe how much debt you can rack up on food expenses!

I think I've figured out what to do with the the youth in terms of gifts and such for Christmas. I haven't started getting it altogether because I'm procrastinating but at least most of my Christmas shopping is done. Just gotta start wrapping and card writing and all!

Yesterday was a day in which I actually got to do everything I wanted to do. First, I ended up watching The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and it was a delight. Sorry Jonny, I couldn't hold out for you lol...I told you I was DYING to see it and I'm an impatient guy...:) I also got to watch the finale of Survivor with some of the church peeps instead of waiting to get home to watch it. If that happens, I'm usually thinking about the show no matter where I'm at...I'd need a REAL BIG DISTRACTION to get my mind off my shows. Well, I got what I wanted out of the day so strangely it was a productive relaxing day. :)

The above song speaks of what is so significant in my life right now. God's been really speaking to me about being a "dependent disciple"--someone who is open to God's leading, but takes his own initiatives in his walk towards holiness. As we take our own intiatives and walk, God will empower us. As we as farmers lay the seeds and water it, God will make it grow. There's a balance between acting on our own and relying on God at the same time to work in us. Often times I get fed up with issues and people that I pray "God, let me have your love for these things and these people becuase I can't deal with them." Really though, God wants ME to have my OWN love and take initiative with that....it is MYSELF that needs to love them and love the circumstances I'm in....I need to take action myself and not just let God do it through me as some passive bystander....how humbling this lesson has been for me. It's hard and I still find it difficult....but God's shown me I have to take some steps....I really don't want to go through the same loop I've been stuck in for the past 6 months-year. So much has happened to me and my heart has grown so hard is so many ways. It's always as John Rueben says a struggle of "The boy vs. The Cynic." There just seems like there are so many issues in life that I can't get through....sometimes I just want to explode or run away and get myself far away from the problems that so easy tangle me up inside. I'm so sick of fronting for everyone like everything is so fine and dandy and that my problems are so insignificant. It's funny how we can believe that our problems aren't anything but if we don't deal with them and bring them to the light, the pile just gets bigger and bigger and we find that our heart is weighed down.....what does it feel like to not have a heavy heart? I almost can't remember.....anyways, my vow is that the year 2006 will be a different one.....

Haha...with that in mind, don't get me wrong..I'm so blessed and I've got lots to be thankful for....I am not just someone who dwells on the negative...but despite them being in my life, I still got lots to be thankful for:

-The holiday I'm on. Man, the hard work has led me to a pit stop on this jouney called life and I'm taking advantage of this break baby!!!
-My friends who constantly stick by me despite my flaws....where would I be without a good and true friend to keep me in check on a regular basis?
-Salvation which will never leave me. Heaven-bounded with no detour baby!!!
-Her...who has stuck by me and shown me that even a guy like me could actually be capable of the emotion to which I never thought I could feel. Yup, it's crazy, but I've been shown that even I deserve some companionship and I never thought I'd find it....seriously!!!
-Family. Things will never be the same again...I really think this is the last year we'll all be living together.....(if not the second last year!! haha!!)...but despite how my bros have flaws, I can't say I would trade them for anything and we've had good times...a new chapter will begin soon. My parents aren't perfect...but what can I do? Their blood flaws through me and we're a part of each other. I love them no matter what. God had good in mind when I was born...even if there was a risky C-Section involved for me to have life.....here I am because of them!

Life is the most complicated thing but it's funny how at the same time, the goodness can be enjoyed despite that it exists with that which can bring us down....Hmmm...yeah, I can't believe it...what am I thinking...did I just type all of that or am I dreaming? Hmmm...how good one can feel after ranting and giving praise to Jesus for the blessings in my life.... :) Take it easy all; I know many of you have exams. God's blessings to you! PAYCE!

Soy = Cow?!?!

Sweetness! I got 10-11 hours of sleep today....was EXHAUSTED all day yesterday so I had the "pass out" sleep again....when I woke up...I ate lunch lol. I managed to make some cream of mushroom soup (which is one of my favorite 'white man's' soups actually). Only, when we have to add the 1/2 can of milk and 1/2 can of water...do you guys do that? I've tried adding a full cup of water and it's nasty compared to real good cream of mushroom soup. Well today I tried putting 1/2 can of soy milk (becuase we don't buy regular white milk..we buy soy becuase we have a member in the family who appears to be lactose intolerant...though we buy chocolate milk!). Well you know how it tasted? It was pretty good! Not AS GOOD as REAL cow's milk...but soy milk here made a good substitute! I wonder if it can truly be a full substitution for cow's milk though...I guess the last test would be to put soy milk with cereal and see how that is!!! :)

Dude, the mandarins are SWEET this season! I just bought a case for the family...I know, the generosity is just flowing out of me isn't it?!?!

Yesterday, Alicia and I met up for our 2nd annual end of semester celebration (minus Jon Wong who broke the tradition we formed last year after completing our RELS 205 exam....). We did some Christmas shopping and then went to the food court and we ate so much...more than I usually eat anyways....:P We shared a meal from that healthy restaurant...what is it called again?! Dang...help anyone? It just slipped my mind...it's equivalent to Veggierama though...haha.... After that, we were still hungry so we got a large NY fries and after gobbling that up, we were still hungry so we got a large order of curly fries from Arby's.....I felt so gross after that....but I managed to sneak in a mandarin orange into my stomach after that after saying "bye" to Alicia lol....The last time we met up to celebrate the end of the semester was for all you can eat so we had to pig out too on this occassion! :P

Wow, it's been 5 straight days of blogging; amazing what you can accomplish on blogger when all your assignments are done!!! :) That's it for today folks! Payce!

When my friend cried in Case Class on Tuesday, she gave us all each candy canes with inspiring quotes on them and this is the one I got. It's only fitting as I watched the movie based on the true story about Helen Keller recently. I've never heard of her until today; I feel sheltered. What an inspiring Story.

Yes, it's true, not everything in Education that's mushy has made me puke. I'll miss my friend from Case as she and I knew each other from "The Mount Royal Kids Camp Dayz."

One more day left at Fort Calgary. I wasn't going to buy them a goodbye present type thing...but I bought them some treats as the student teachers from the Beta House bought treats for the staff and Matt and I aren't going to let the Beta House outdue us! Down with Beta House!!! :P

The title got cancelled eventually (along with a lot of titles from Marvel), and Havok and Polaris (chick with the green hair) are now in X-Men where they belong!!! :) The other three characters are Multiple Man, Wolfsbane and Strong Guy who will be in the new X-Factor monthly series starting in 1 week! You bet I'm picking up this issue; I love X-Factor!!! So today was the last day of lectures for me; I only have 2 days left in the field at my CW and then I'm free for 4 weeks! I am really going to miss my Case classmates. We shared so much in class and became vulnerable with one another. Despite me not being the biggest fan of my Case Prof, she did good in proving the environment where I could become so close to a WHOLE classroom of students. One of the girls cried today lol..... :P At least I will still be with my buddies from Hawkwood. I can't believe that also means I will have to see my Field Prof for 8 hours a week! How am I going to get through it!?!?

Man, I'm addicted to more comic titles than I've ever been. I used to only buy one monthly title when I was in elementary school. Then it increased to 3 in High School, then 6. Now guess how many I'm collecting? Let's see, I have to write this all down:

TEN TITLES!!! OUCH!!! I've been tempted to buy some more too lately!!! For example, I bought the first two issues of She-Hulk...GREAT READ but low on money....what to do? "Haha....I Love you She-Hulk"--Chris Griffin, Family Guy

Hmmmm....that's not including mini series too. I'm collecting : Son of M, Generation M, X-Men: The 198, and possibly Daughters of the Dragon!!! These are all only 4-6 issues in length for the series so at least it's not monthly!

It's great though because I've had a hobby since I was a child and I've stayed true to it...I think I'm truly a Marvel Comics NERD!!! Gotta love it though! So if I've collected comics since the age of 7 or so, what do you guys think was my favorite comic back then? I'll give you a hint, I still collect it today....here is a shortened list to give you a hint by narrowing the list down to four titles. These are the only four titles that are still around today that existed in the 90's anyways!! :P

Am I Anti-Social?

So it's 2:20pm and my Professional Seminar ended early so that my prof could treat us to drinks in the Graduate Lounge. I didn't go but am waiting for the bus to arrive in 15 minutes or so. I actually like most of my classmates a lot but this is probably the one class where I haven't gotten to know most of them on a real personal level. I told my friends in the class that I was tired but I guess I'm not as tired as I have given the impression of being. Oh well, gotta get home...still got lots of work to do until the semester is over.....3 more days to go....:)

Hey, I said I wasn't expecting anyone to buy this stuff for me but if it happens, GREAT....although I do expect I will buy them on my own after the holidays have well passed. Honestly though, what I've posted, I don't think any of you could honestly say that if you were considering getting me a present could say "Yeah, Kingston needs Flintstones Season 4" or "I think we should get him a DVD Rack; that's what he'd really want!" :) Heh....it doesn't matter if I get what I want (if I get any gifts at all) because practically everything that's been given to me--whether I've liked them or not--I've still got the stuff that's been given to me and you can come and go through my inventory and see that. :) Oh well, at least most ppl can see that I'm not a regifter or anything like that.....I am just a guy who knows what he wants.... :)

So I picked up some Comics today and the way X-Men ended was that Iceman apprently has his powers back? What the?!?! Lol....that's the cliffhanger ending.....could it be true? Could Bobby be Iceman again after losing his powers for merely 4 weeks? Also, they just released the first X3 trailer! Not bad...not bad at all! :P Take a look! X3 Trailer

How you know Christmas is Comin'...

Man, I went to CP for it's 72 hour sale and came out with a very heavy purchase made. :P How do you know when Christmas is here? The debt you rack up!!!! :P

On the plus side, I bought plenty of stuff to keep me occupied for the 4 weeks I have off in purchasing some books and some new CDs. One of the new discs I bought was Tree63's Worship Volume One: I Stand for You. Good stuff. I Have a few of the songs already but this compelation is great becuase I get live versions of their greatest hits. Highly Recommended. I am debating whether I should get the CDs of a band called Falling Up. Anyone ever hear of them? They're with Tooth and Nail and I've heard good things. Couldn't decide whether or not I should buy the discs or not though....I guess I'll pray about it? :P

Speaking of X-Mas...here is my wish list. I hope I can get enough money to buy these things if not, get them for Christmas! ;P Since Alicia posted her list, I feel I should too just to compare our wants. :)

Have you ever read a book only to find that you remember nothing about it? I'm currently reading (very slowly mind you), "The Phantom Tollbooth"--a children's novel I read in grade 6--and Joshua Harris' "Not Even a Hint"--a book about guarding your heart against lust. Man, I remember loving reading these books but I don't remember much about them at all. They're both superb books. The first book I'm reading is for pure lesiure while the latter is a book I'm reading to challenge myself. It's also a book that I believe really applies to what so many ppl face today--especially our youth.

Joshua Harris writes:

"I've come to believe that lust may be the defining struggle for this generation" (Harris, 19).

What was the statistic from the 1999? That by the time teens reach 18 years old, over 65% of them have lost their virginity? And then that statistic increases to 80% while students are attending college? That's truly saddening. Hmmm..apparently this statistic is a bit lower for people from Asian Cultures....Still though, it's pretty significantly high....

So how do we fight it?

Harris quotes from "Future Grace" by John Piper:

"We must fight fire with fire. The fire of lust's pleasures must be fought with the fire of God's pleasures. If we try to fight the fire of lust with prohibitions and threats alone--even the terrible warnings of Jesus--we will fail. We must fight it with the massive promise of superior happiness. Hmmm...holy satisfaction...sounds great doesn't it? :)
